I'm having trouble with my CD and DVD drives. I have their jumpers set to "Cable Select." The power supply plugs have labels like P4 and P5. Does it matter which plug goes with which drive?

Suppose I switch the jumpers to Master-Slave, would it matter then?

Thanks.

the power supply leads dont matter the cable select is for the IDE ribbon cables coming from your motherboard. i dont like cable select as i can never remember off the top of my head where the twist goes to make them master or slave. so i just put the master and slave settings to save time and headache. and the power supply labels make me nervous, as long as they are molex or four big pin holes with a rounded topside then your fine and that doesnt matter.

No, power cords dont matter which one you use long as it fits haha. I would suggest setting the jumpers to master for one and slave for the other. Sometimes cable select can be confusing. Eliminates any confusing issues if the jumper is set to master and slave (thats what I use).

Power supply doesn't matter, as long as it fits. You need to consider is the jumper settings. Much better if you set the exact jumper settings on its device. The nearer to the Motherboard slot, the higher the jumper setting that you need to set (meaning, it is the master).
