I am sorry to hear about your problem, which can be distressing. Genital herpes is caused by a virus and results in small sores in the genital area, which are usually quite uncomfortable, even painful. You are right that they are rather like cold sores, in that the virus can lie dormant in the skin, which can appear quite normal, and then in response to some stress to the system, like an infection, anxiety, hormonal imbalance or even intercourse, can flare up again. This can go on happening for a long time. The first attack is usually the worst, and subsequent episodes are not so severe and do not last as long. Although there is no guaranteed cure, there are some antiviral agents that can be used that will help minimise the attacks, and in some cases stop them happening. The simplest form of these is a cream called Zovirax, but the most effective are tablets that are taken by mouth. They are expensive and must be prescribed by a doctor.

I think it is important that your get some expert advice on this. The best way to do that is to go to a specialist Genito-Urinary Medicine clinic. Most hospitals have such a clinic, the number of which will be in the phone book. Patients attending these clinics can make their own appointments without a letter from their doctor. The clinic can do tests to confirm whether this is genital herpes or not, and give advice and treatment to be used in the event of a further attack. It is important for your friend to remember that this condition can be passed on, even when they there are no obvious sores present, and so a condom should always be used for intercourse to protect her partner.

It could be an STD, but if theres only one than its likely that its a Zit or Pimple. It's a good thing that you're going to the clinic though, because you never know. Hope I've helped, good luck.

God bless.

did you recently have sex or use anything that rubbed and caused the sore? heres what you can do until you see the doctor it won't hurt you at all but get a gallon jug of apple cider vinegar at wal-mart $3.00 pour the whole jug in the tub and some water not a lot and soak in it don't rinse or towel dry just air dry the smell will fade when you dry it will help alot till you see the doctor vinegar heals alot on our bodies

definitely something to get checked out ASAP. it could be nothing but a pimple or ingrown hair but serious as herpes. It's nothing to be messed with. Good luck

I have had them before and my doctor told me not to worry, they are just infected hair folicals. They will heal, but don't touch them if you don't have too, ie don't try and pop it. I had one on the inside of my leg and kept messing with it and it took forever to heal and after it did I had a scar from it.

Actually if its bleeding and not ossing something else else, I think u will be fine. It probably either pimple hair follicle or bug bite. But I;m very glad you are being seen tomorrow.
