There were eggs long before there were chickens; dinosaurs and fish were laying them millions of years before feathered, flightless birds.

if you belive in creationism the the chicken came first because that would mean it was made by a god. if you believe in evolution then the egg came first because what laid it may have been something almost but not quite a chicken. so it depends on your view of the universe, how it was created, and the reasons for what happens in it

When God created the world, He went right up to the bottomline.. no more eggs and all that stuff. Then the pair made the egg and populate the world.
