Why is it that if a gay couple hold hands or, God forbid, kisses that some people accuse them of flaunting their sexuality? Are straight people 'flaunting' their sexuality when they hold hands or kiss? No one is throwing anything in anyone's face--you have a neck use it. If it offends you, don't gawk. What do you think?

That's showing love, not flaunting sexuality. But I can understand where those people are coming from. Look at some people who like actually wear pink or act effeminate just to get attention, it's annoying... But people just showing affection? If someone is so insecure and can't be happy for a couple showing affection...they're horrible people.

Yup. Straight people flaunt their sexuality every day, everywhere. We live in a heterosexist world. While I'm not comfortable when anyone gets too kissy-faced or fondling in public, it should be just as acceptable for a gay couple as a straight one.

I think a lot of people are afraid of what they don't understand. We have all grown up seeing and excepting straight couples. But for a lot of people, seeing two men kiss is still new. And as for the a ss that answered first, seeing two girls kiss is just more socially acceptable, but that doesn't make it any more right or wrong. People are just too closed minded to see that. I think it's great when two people are comfortable enough to show that they are in love, weather it be two men, two women, or a man and a women.

First off, all "coming out" is a matter of "flaunting." Every person who reveals that they are gay are "flaunting." And yes, of course, when two guys or two girls hold hands or kiss in public they are revealing that they are gay and thus they are "flaunting." Secondly, in answer to, ........

"Are straight people 'flaunting' their sexuality when they hold hands or kiss?"

Yes, they are "flaunting" the fact that they are heterosexual, which is to say that they are "flaunting" the fact that they are ........ GASP ......... normal. They are not ....... "QUEER" ......... they are not "*******," or "dykes," or so on. Heterosexuality is normalcy. Homosexuality is not the norm. Homosexuals are aspiring to the status of normalcy. But we (note that I said WE) have not arrived at that status. Yet.

Some homosexuals do flaunt it. They wear ribbons and rainbows on their shirts all the time. It's not as bad as Puerto rican girls wrapping flags around their bodies and calling them dresses though. Or those girls with every Green Day shirt that was ever made. Everyone flaunts something, whether it be sexuality, nationality, musical preference, etc

I do not consider a same-sex couple holding hands or peck-on-the-cheek-or-lips kissing "flaunting." It would be like accusing a woman breat feeding in public of flaunting her breasts. However, I do feel (as someone mentioned) that gay folks do tend to go a little overboard, like at the parades. I've seen stuff that would make your teeth curl. I wish the gay community would try to steer clear of that because that's what's making straight people react so revoltingly when they see gay people.

Lots of those people don't really enjoy their sexuality. It's a burden for them. They can barely force themselves. So when they see other people acting naturally (instead of being in a cultural straitjacket) they get uncomfortable. Poor babies.

Some things are morally acceptable. Like real pastry in a bakeshop window.

we just covered this a few minutes before. Straights are easily shocked when someone else acts romantic in front of them..they don't care if they carry on like they belong in a motel, but anyone else...all hell breaks loose. Big deal...we are here, we are going no where...they can just get used to it. And if they don't, who really cares? What I really want to know is if Craigmann is as pitiful as he makes himself out to be?

Because people who are set in their ways are just afraid and threatened by anything that they perceive to be different.
