My girlfriend just got engaged and she told me that her ring is a cubic circonium. She told me it's quite common and these days you can't tell it apart from the real thing. Do any of you have a CZ engagement ring?

no but i think its a good idea. i never got an engagement ring at all, because we had just bought a house that we were renovating and i preferred to spend the money on that.

I guess its all a matter of priorities.

Our first christmas he bought me nice diamond stud earrings. when my baby sis got married and got a $20,000 ring i spent $150 and got a 3 stone cz ring set in real 14 kt that her snooty friends all swooned over. lol

Mine is real thank you. And CZ is very easy to tell from a diamond if you know the difference. If she can't tell, then she doesn't know much about jewelry. As for it being common, maybe among TPT. I'm not trying to be insulting here, but most people have a clue and will notice her fake ring. Sounds like a cheap guy, or a girl that thinks that a big fake is better than a small diaomnd. I'd rather have (and do) a small diamond than a big immitation.

I would never want a CZ engagement ring. I can't believe that the size of the ring means that much to some people!

No, to be frank it sounds awfully tacky.

If you can't afford a precious stone, get a semi-precious that is beautiful in its own right, not a cheap imitation of something else.

My engagement ring is a garnet ring, because that particular stone means something private between us.

That's not an engagment ring. That's a friendship ring.

I do not and would not accept such a ring.
Did they get a fake diamond just so it would look bigger for less the price?
tacky.........just get a real diamond that you can afford.
