You must live near. Door County is a popular place to visit for Chicagoans. I love going to Michigan as well. A friend lives on a small lake not far from Chicago and it is paradise - quiet, boating, swimming, sand, bondfires, no stress.....

A 5 hour drive from SW Ohio doesn't get me anywhere close to my favorite vacation spot. I like Alaska. But I have not been to Door County yet. I'm looking forward to a fish boil. I've seen all 50 states so there aren't many corners of the country I haven't been yet. I tend to avoid cities.

I will choose Aguadilla, P.R. It's like two hours from my home and is one of the remote places also. I have family there and the town have good food and beaches. In 5 hours I almost go around the entire island. Yes I'm not the only one suffering from isolation.

Near Kelly's Butte, located under the snow ridge off of Mt. Rainier. Sights, sounds, and nature you can never forget.
