You've answered your own question...'his songs touched me like no others'...he was a charismatic individual who was special in every way... he seemed to have such a presence about him, and with his extraordinarily powerful voice and good looks, it is/was not hard to be attracted to such an icon. Many of us are/were in awe of him because of his pure energy and talent. You're in the majority, my friend! Freddy: We miss you, but to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.

Freddie Mercury had charisma. It's that thing like David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler and people like that have. They might not be really great looking men in the classic sense, but something draws you too them.

Freddy Mercury isn't about gayness.

He is about the power of an individual's personality. His charisma and physicality and ability to exude so much confidence in expressing himself can fascinate even the most jaded person on this planet.

Hope this doesn't spoil it for you.

The songs were great, and he had a huge voice. Freddie Mercury was a fantastic frontman for an extremely talented band. Perfectly understandable that one should like him.

It was his amazing voice. A voice can be that powerful. I think Rufus Wainwright is downright sexy, and I know that he is gay, and that even if I did know him, I would never have a chance, because I'm a chick. Freddie Mercury was an incredible performer!

He had charisma and he was a great front man. He sang We Will Rock You. Don't we all love Freddie Mercury?

Because the man was a musical genius...as were his bandmates, making quite possibly the most genius collection of music ever created by four people (I daresay that Queen even eclipses the Beatles in ingenuity and variety).
He also just seemed like a great character.

I'm right there with ya, hon.

He was a very inspiring man. He did what he loved and he was very good at it, gay or not.

Besides, who DOESN'T like Freddy? =)

(We sell the 18" figurine of him at Spencers, and that is sooo awesome!)

Me too. He was a fascinating individual and one of the greatest rock legends that ever lived. I am not ashamed.

perhaps it's the music that you're really fascinated with and not the man. or perhaps it's his attitude towards his music, his flair, the way he carries his music that you like.
