Hey there, listen quick question about something. When I'm at work there's this girl that I pass everyday, I always greet her in passing but she never responds and she doesn't even make eye contact. I'm as nice as I can be without being creepy. It kind of erks me a little because I really try to reach out to people to be kind and I have an outgoing personality. I notice when i pass her she will twitch her eyes in my direction but it's like she straining not to make eye contact with me. also in the elevator she will just look straight ahead or down at the ground. normally in the elevator I make eye contact with people, but not to a point to where it's uncomfortable...I was tryin to carry a conversation on with someone in the elevator and the guy i was talkin to started to sweat profusely....I was like WTF?

There could be a bad rumor going around about you. Or people are ignorant (I get a lot of those). Maybe the guy is claustrophobic.

We've become very anti-social. If you watch people in their 50s and 60s interact with strangers, they seem very open and friendly. I work in customer service and I don't know how many times I'll just have a random conversation with someone of that age group. I also serve a lot of university students and I notice they won't ever start up any friendly chit-chat.

It could just be that as we mature, we become more self confident and able to converse with strangers more comfortably.

Who knows.

I don't know the answer to your question concerning this lady's behavior. But, it seems to me that it is important to you to let her know that you exists. She already knows that, Keep in mind, don't take it personally, it's not you. If you feel comfortable in your gestures to initiate a conversation, or anything with her, you did all you can do. The rest is up to her.

she might be shy or in a possesive relationship or just wary of men/people for reasons of her own.just keep smiling and maybe after awhile she'll warm up.It's hard to say some people never do.
