Why is Cox changng the channel lineup in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana?

For instance, WAFB TV 3 is currently on channel 3. As of 8-15-06 it will be moved to Cox channel 17.

there doing in here to and I live in Chula Vista. The History Channel used to be channel 70 now it is channel 55 and the food network used to be on channel 69 and now it's on 67. It's stupid I know.

Seriously it is probably because they are adding channels and certain stations pay a premium price for a premium channel number.
