I took a home pregnancy test twice last night (Confirm Clearly) and it said i was pregnant. Yet 4 to 5 days ago other brands said i was not. I was wondering how many days, or how high do the hcg levels have to be before a home pregnancy test will pick it up clearly.

Go to http://www.peeonastick.com to see what the sensitivity of your test is. They have a chart under Pregnancy Tests, or something similar. Some of the more sensitive tests (25-50 mIU) will detect at or a little after 7 days after your conceive at the earliest. The less sensitive tests (50-100 mIU) will detect closer to 14 days or later.I had a moderate test (maybe 50-60 mIU, I think) and I got a faint line 12 days after conception, but got negative only two days before. I got a more sensitive test from Dollar Tree a few days later and got a -really- dark line.

It sounds like you've had a very early miscarriage. If you had a positive result and now you're getting negatives, it's likely that it was a chemical pregnancy.

HPTs vary in sensitivity. And women vary in the amount of hcg that's produced, so one woman may have a positive result sooner than the next. The link that the other lady posted for you has a great chart that tells you the detection levels of hcg for each type of pregnancy test. The lowest amount of hcg that can be detected in a hpt right now is 25 miu. It sounds as if you are about 4 weeks along (remember that the way the weeks of pregnancy are determined are by the first day of your last period. Since you just took a test 4 days ago that was negative, it's pretty safe to assume that you're newly pregnant. This means that you conceived probably about 9 to 14 days ago)

I hope your results turn out to be what you desire :) Good luck!!!

some tests detect pregnancy up to 5 days before hand like the first response but others you have to wait till either the day or day after you period is due i bought one at dollar general for a buck when i was pregnant period was 5 days late it was accurate

for a pregnancy test to be accurate you dont have to miss your period first. i have been pregnant 7 times and everytime i took the test without missing my period first and they were all accurate. but if u just got pregnant a week ago, then it wont show but from what you said i would think you are pregnant.

it depends on the brand of pregnancy test you use. they all are made to detect the pregnancy at a certain point of time. you should read the instructions to find out if the tests were taken with adequate time to see if you are really pregnant

You can always get a false negative, there are rarely a false positives! I would go to your doctor and ask them to give youa blood test, that is the only true way to know!
