I'm going to Mammoth in a few days, and i'm planning to go horseback riding. If I can find a place. I want to go somewhere where they take you one either a one hour or even a half day ride. It could be mule or horseback riding. Does anyone know of a place in Mammoth?

I don't remember the specific names, but there are multiple places up there to rent horses and go on a guided ride if you want.

Do you mean Mammoth as in Yellowstone? There are at least two places in Yellowstone to trail ride for an hour and several immediately outside the park. However, they are not big on helmets out there, even though they technically recommend them. I had to insist that they give me one, and was the only person on the ride who wore one. Always wear a helmet whenever you get on a horse, you never know what freak accident may happen, and its a good habit. I personally feel naked on a horse without a helmet, and I have actually totaled a couple. Just look around and ask when you get there.

Mammoths were huge, sure nuff, but I dont think they were big enough to go horseback riding in. Have you ever been to the Yellowstone National Monument? They got a tree there thats so big, they cut a huge square out of the trunk that's big enough to drive a car through. lol.
