I've already asked a similar question, but I only got two answers. My daughter is having a swim/luau/beach party for her 12th birthday this weekend, and I'm trying to find some cool songs to download for them to listen to during the party.

I'd really like to go with Hawaiin Island music, or some upbeat (clean) reggae, but I'll also take suggestions for any songs having to do with beaches, or summer, or sunshine.

The songs I have so far are: Feel Good Island Music, Limbo Rock, Rock-a-Hula Baby, Slicin' Sand, Island Reggae, Pass de Dutchie, Jamaica Ska, Luau Cha-Cha-Cha, Soak up the Sun, Walkin' on Sunshine, In the Summertime, and Hot! Hot! Hot!

If I'm going to burn a whole CD, I want it to be worth my while. I don't want to waste a whole CD on only 12 songs. Can anyone help with some suggestions or even some web sites I can research that would have this kind of information? Thanks!

I guess I'd go with some Bob Marley... maybe Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

Sure! Here are a few of my favorites:

Island in the sun - Weezer
Little Grass Shack - Jewel or Annette Funicello
The Ocean Breathes Salty - Modest Mouse
We've got more bounce (in California)
Stir it up, Jammin, one love, or anything by Bob or Ziggly Marley

I know the party is this coming weekend... but my little online business can have items shipped to you in 2-3 business days. I own Breezy Beach Wear (www.breezybeachwear.com) and my items are beach/luau inspired. Let me know if I can send anything for party favors or gifts for your birthday girl!

Hi there - please also ask your daughter the type of music she likes for her birthday party & maybe you can include some of her selections too.
I don't know much about Hawaiian music & so my own selections are:
"Surfer Girl"/"Surfing USA"/"California Girls"/"Sloop John B"/"Cottonfields"/"Then I Kissed Her"/"Fun, Fun, Fun"/"Surfin' Safari" by the Beach Boys
"Walk Don't Run" & other instumentals by The Ventures
"Apache" & other instumentals by The Shadows
"In the Summertime" Mungo Jerry
"No Woman No Cry" Boney M
"Sha La La La Lee" Small Faces
"Lana"/"Pretty Woman" Roy Orbison
"Oh Yoko" John Lennon
"Luxury" The Rolling Stones
"Walk Like An Egyptian" The Bangles
"Breathless" The Corrs
"With a Girl Like You" The Troggs
"I Love You Love Me Love" Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
"The Wild One" Suzi Quatro
"Crocodile Rock"/"Island Girl" Elton John
&...
"So Young" The Corrs

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
We are taking it easy
Bright and breezy, yeah
We are living it up
Just fine and dandy, yeah

And it really doesn't matter that we don't eat
And it really doesn't matter if we never sleep
No it really doesn't matter, really doesn't matter at all

Coz we are so young now, we are so young, so young now
And when tommorow comes, we can do it all again

We are chasin' the moon
Just running wild and free
We are following through
Every dream and every need

And it really doesn't matter that we don't eat
And it really doesn't matter if we never sleep
No it really doesn't matter, really doesn't matter at all

Coz we are so young now, we are so young, so young now
And when tommorow comes, we can do it all again
Yeah, we are so young now, we are so young, so young now
And when tommorow comes, we'll just do it all again
All again, all again, yeah, all again, all again..., Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
So young now, we are so young, so young now
And when tommorow comes, we'll just do it all again
Yeah, we are so young now, we are so young, so young now
And when tommorow comes, we'll just do it all again
We are so young... (Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah-ie Yeah)
We are so young... (Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah-ie Yeah)

Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride. There is one by Jump 5, but there is another one on the Lilo and Stitch Soundtrack by a school group or something in Hawaii.

Im doing the same thing for a niece!
If you want Hawaiian--try:

Three Plus
Kanalo

If you want more Reggae_ish--try:

Elan Atias
50 First Dates Soundtrack
UB40

You can try looking up these artists in Amazon.com....sometimes you can hear song previews and they also recommend similar artists/cds

hope that helps!

I'm a big Beatles fan and they do some good songs like:
"Yellow Submarine"
"Baby your a rich man" etc.
But they aren't that partyish.
I'm turning 12 soon and what about Rhianna?
She has 2 calm songs, "We Ride" and "If it's lovin' that you want". "If it's lovin' that you want" will have all the girls singing it after the party! It's pretty catchy! Well, hope they come in handy!
