Hey! I was thinking of asking a similar question! So, I'll answer instead!
I ride a bike and I ride on the street in a busy Downtown. I basically have to ride as if I am driving, even if it means going to an inner turning lane. As I am riding, I notice that some drivers do not like having to accommodate me on the road. I can usually keep up to the traffic fairly well and I am very aware of the cars around me and try to give them room if I can.
It is illegal for me to ride on the sidewalk in my city! I could be ticketed! Sometimes, if the traffic seems really impatient to the point of being dangerous, I will ride on the sidewalk. My plan, if stopped by the police, is to pull out my rookie scared girl trump card! Actually, I've only had an officer say something to me once and I said that the cars were scaring me! He smiled and said, "Okay! Ride safe!" That time, I was on the sidewalk because I wanted to go the opposite direction on a one-way street and I didn't want to go around!

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's illegal in most states. If not certain areas, like cities. Besides if you were a pedastrian wouldn't you be thinking "Don't you hate it when someone is riding their bike on the sidewalk when there is a perfectly good street? Drives me crazy" Not only that, but most drivers I know treat bike riders like ****, so it goes both ways. I don't even ride a bike, but I see it every day.

Well, actually, in many places it is ILLEGAL for bikers to use the sidewalk. The sidewalk is intended for pedestrians only, so, if there is no bike path avaliable, they have to use the road just like any mechanized vehicle.
If you know it's illegal then hush up and accept it, there are worse things to get annoyed about than obeying the law!

The law in my state is that bicycles go in the street with traffic, but that can be dangerous. If there is no bicycle lane or room, the law says that we are entitled to our space on the road, but it seems like no one ever told that to the drivers, often they beep or pass in the same lane. I try to ride on the sidewalk, too, but some pedestrians act like you are endangering them and make a big deal out of it.
Bottom line...riding bicycles on the sidewalk is illegal...!!

It drives me crazy to see someone on a bike taking up space on a sidewalk when there is a perfectly good bike lane on the street and they expect the walkers and runners to go around them.

I do and the teenagers where I live do it all the time and sometimes you honk the horn and they still won't move out of the way. We have such problems the city passed an ordinance that they have to stay on the sidewalk, but unless a police car sees it , there is nothing anyone can do.

Are you really this STUPID?...or do you just want us to think you are? Who else hates it?.......What you should really say is ....who else is "THIS" IGNORANT OF THE LAW AND RULES OF THE ROAD? Sidewalks are for pedestrians only (everywhere) and not for anything more than strollers or kiddies trycycles! Bicycles are by "LAW" considered VEHICLES (everywhere) and are meant to be ridden on all roads other than posted highways!
If this "drives" you crazy I'm sure it will be a short trip!
