You would know better than anyone if her opinion is true. Have others commented on this problem (family or co-workers)? Do you tend to have a problem with road rage or fly off the handle easily?
If you think your boss has a point, here's an opportunity to score some points with her. Acknowledge that this is an area you continually work on improving in your life. Thank her for providing the info on the seminar, and tell her you look forward to it. Then, really do try to get something out of it.
If you think your boss is way off the mark, calmy tell her so. Let her know that while you are happy to attend the training and feel it's a topic that anyone could benefit from, you were bit surprised by the feedback. Ask her for a specific example so that you can avoid giving out that impression.
It IS a class anyone could benefit from, so after you clear the air with your boss, I'd go anyway. And by the way, even if your boss's perception is WAY off, good for her for offering a solution rather than just putting a black mark in your file.

I feel like telling her to take a hike! That's completely intrusive and obnoxious. Hopefully she's not making this a requirement, and if she is, I'd be looking for another job.
She can warn you about cleaning up your act and getting your anger in check, but no way can she intrude on your personal life and tell you to take classes on your emotions.
No wonder you're having trouble with anger. This boss sounds like she can provoke people to get mad!

The seminar will do a lot of good to you. The observatins of your boss had been in general but the seminar will help you to pinpoint where problem lies.

No sh_t!! My hubby and I have been going to anger management therapy (we both have issues) and it's just like regular counseling. I'm not under the illusion that there is a magic pill, but I would readily attend something more effective and to the point.

a little hard to comment without knowing u...but if ur boss wants u to go. just go check it out. it is true that an inability to control emotions could cause major problems in a person's life...but whether or not u actually can already is something i can't answer.

by the way you lay your question.. i think you should..
Thank your boss cause he/she is concerned about your career. Maybe he/she has seen a great potential in you and thinks that your attitude might spoil it.
Go on, hope you will benefit from it.
