Hi Julie, I have a son and now his son that live with bloody noses so I have a bit of experience with them. The side that is not bleeding press your finger against it and with the side that is bleeding blow as hard as you can. What continues to bleed is the blood clot that is up in your sinus area. After blowing your nose pinch the bridge of your nose for 3-5 minutes and that should do it. Make sure you have a lot of tissues or toilet paper when you blow. It will probably scare you the first time because it looks like so much blood, but it's ok. You may have to blow your nose 2-3 times, but this does work. Good luck to you.

Don't tilt your head back, it doesn't help and may cause blood to run down the back of your throat. Pinch the bridge of your nose and stick a cotton ball or rolled up gauze pad just into your nostrils (don't cram it way up in there) to absorb the blood and wait. The tampon idea isn't all that bad if you have some minis. You might look ridiculous but it will absorb the blood.

pinch your nose were you first feel the bone structure........do not lean back or pull your head forward, instead remain with your head in a still position as if a book is sitting on your head. The bleeding and drainage should stop....... remember not no mess with your nose anymore, the blood vessels could rupture again and possibly even worse.

1. face cloth or towel run under cold water
2. place cloth on bridge of nose to decrease swelling & under to catch blood
3. hold head up (don't fight the gravity dear - not down)
4. pinching the nose MAY hurt it more if it was hit so don't do it
5. BUT will work if it is a nosebleed with no apparent cause.

Pinch at the bridge of the nose. It may take up to 12 minutes or so to stop - don't worry, though, it will.

Pinch the nose. They used to tell you to hold your head up but that would cause the blood to run down your throat.

Pinch your nose shut and tilt your head FORWARD (not back). Hold it for a solid five minutes. If that doesn't stop it, you should probably hit the ER.

Pinch at the bridge like everyone said. If its taking to long, pinch with ice. Really that works. Also if you have affrin, use it in the bleeding nostril. That works too.
