OK, I'll level with ya, I'm a guy...But I've had the privilage to date some wonderful girls that share your predicament, and they said the only place they could find bras which fit right was victoria secret. It works out well for your man too, as long as you don't make him go there with you, just show him at home.

Go to the store and get measured for free. As long as you aren't shopping at Wal-Mart, the sales girls will do it, and help you find the right fit and style. It's their job.
I wear a 34D now, and my personal favorite store is Victoria's Secret. Speaking as a woman who used to be bigger, try a full coverage bra if you are a large cup. Larger breasts tend to fall out of Demi, Bandeau, and other plunging and half cup styles. If you want to look smaller, get a minimizer bra.
If band size is where you are big, but not in the cup, try a push up bra to give you a little boost. If you are large in the chest, but less than spectacular in the cup, an added boost can help make you look more evened out. You might even want a padded bra. That's your choice.
For hard to find sizes try:

Tou can try on bras just like any other clothing. If you are larger in the chest (D, DD etc) try a specialty clothier like Roamans (www.roamans.com), Jessica London (www.jessicalondon.com), or Lane Bryant(www.lanebryant.com). Also the Curvation line of bras available at Wal-Mart is designed for larger women.

first you need to measure yourself properly and second you need to go somewhere other than walmart to buy them. jc penney or filenes or some other higher end dept store should have the quality bras that you are looking for. they should also offer sizing for you as well if you dont' think you can do the measurements youself.
you need to take a tape and measure around your ribcage below your breasts where the bra band will be, add 5 inches to that (30+4=34, 1st measurement).. then you measure around the fullest part of your chest and for every inch larger than the first measurement is one cup size....ie:a, b, c, etc...

ok, i'll tell you but no laughing and pointing allowed, 42g. I'm 44 and they weren't always this big. when i was young and beautiful and thin i wore a 38d.
what you need to do i go to a bra store (look in yellow pages under lingerie), or if you can not locate one in your area, a decent department store; nordstroms, macys etc. and let them fit you.
once you determine your size and find some you like you can bargain shop online for the same.
below is my favorite everyday bra, its a sports bra, no wire, just comfortable.

Victoria's Secret has the absolute best bras. They can be pricey but they are soooo worth it. I won't buy a bra from anywhere else.
