I just have to correct someone's comment earlier. It is a common misconception that you ovulate on day 14 after you start your period. Thats not exactly it, its similar but theres still a difference. It is 14 days back from when you get your next period. Usually its about the same, but not always. Also the morning after pill does not cause you to shed the lining- thats a different form of emergency contraception. The morning after pill is a very high dosage of the hormones used in the pill. It only prevents the fertilized egg from attatching to the lining. (it takes the fertilized egg a few days to travel from the fallopian tube to implant in the uterine lining. ) Again- this is not ru47 the abortion drug- that causes the lining to shed. The morning after pill only prevents it from attatching. Theres a difference. As far as what will happen to you- if you took the morning after pill within the alotted time, you should be fine. And remember the pill is not effective until you have been taking for 1 full month. Hope that answered your question

Usually when you first start taking the pills, its the first sunday after the first day of your period. For instance, if your first day was Monday the 1st, you would take the pill on the 7th of Sunday. If you took your birth control pills for three days...that would be Wed the 10th (ten days later). You are most likely to ovulate on the 14th, or 14 days from your last period. Sperm can survive for 3 days. If you had sex on the 10th, your sperm would be dead on the 14th. Of course if you continued to have sex unprotected then you could be pregnant, but most likely you hadnt ovulated yet. Remember that the morning after pill works by making you ovulate...So if your egg was fertilized and attached to the uterus linning, the pill makes you shed your linning, so you loose the egg. This is just like an abortion because in an abortion they hook up a vacum to the uterus and litteraly suck up the linning slightly. This irritation causes you to shed your linning in about 2 days. Think about using this morning after pill, again its like an abortion.

If you are worried about pregnancy, the chances are slim.

However, mixing the pill and the "morning after" pill is dangerous. It would be wise to use a condom for the next three weeks. Don't use emergency contraception instead of a condom, while you wait for your birth control to become effective.

Raise your risk for cancer, blood clot, stroke and heart attack. The MAP is basically a very concentrated form of regular birth control. Next time just continue to take your regular birth control Rx and it works the same with same risk, but far less likely.
