I asked for 2 days off work three weeks ago, and have just been told that I can't have them off (I have over 200 hrs holidays owing)
I wanted them off as I am moving house this weekend (I get the keys on sat afternoon.. so I wanted mon & tues off aswell as I am a single female that has to organise this move on my own and I don't have any family in my city to help me move..and friends can only help me sat arvo & sun arvo.. I have heard moving is one of lifes most stressfull experiences..This I am feeling already as I am awake till 2am everynight worrying how I am going to get this move done..Should I just make everyone at work happy and go in annoyed, stressed and pis**d off.. or should I just take the days off as sick leave even though they will know I'm only doing it to move, and unpack..and possibly get in trouble with the boss??(probably will).. I am stretched financially because of this move and cannot afford to pay removalists or lose my job.. what do you think I should do??

Work has no-one to cover my position at the moment, so if I don't go in they will have to shut the office I work from as I am the only one in there..but they should have organised something when I asked for the time off.. but I think they just thought it'd be easier not to give me the time off???

You shouldn't call in sick if that means the office has to close, especially if you don't have enough money to afford being fired. Hang in there. Can you stretch out your move over several days instead of cramming it in one weekend?
Also, as soon as you get stabilized with your move, you need to quit that job and find another one! I would never put up with someone denying me vacation when I give advance notice. That's just plain disrespectful of your boss.

Aaaaaahhhh, sick and personal days. I have forgotten what those are like. You see if you own a small business or you work for a small business owner, chances are you may not get sick and personal days.
You have an interesting dilemma. Why not do your move over two weekends, since you have no help. Renting moving vans costs more on the weekend however. But, if you go to work, you will not be placing stress on your company. Yes, in a perfect world, they would have found someone to cover for you. Do we live in a perfect world?
Rent a van for the heavier items, and move those first. Then move smaller boxes during the week (assuming that you have a car) after work.
Don't lose your job over this. Perhaps, they might even be willing to pay you for some of your holiday hours that you cannot take.

I was a single mom and about 5 years ago I moved too. I had no friends or family that would help and I didn't get paid time off. So what I did was move my stuff before I went to work. I would make about 8 to 10 road trips because all I had was a car and couldn't afford the rent a kind. I was moved in three days. And to tell you the truth it wasn't all that stressful.

I am sorry to say this but I think if you want your job, you are going to have to go to work. You are in a position of enormous responsibility because if you are not there they have to shut. A shut business is a bad business.
I know it is a horrible situation but as someone who has moved a LOT I can assure you it is not that bad. Seriously stop stressing - if you have to unpack things for a week afterward then so be it.

Pray!
Since you are single and financially stretched you do not have many options.
If you take time off it will be used against you. Otherwise, your employer would have declined this request immediately when you asked for time off. It seems your employer is doing this on purpose.
Are you able to work half a day?
Are you able to reschedule your move? Call and beg for the movers to reschedule you for Saturday. If they can not, call all of the other movers in your area and beg for a Saturday move (maybe they will have a cancellation).
Pray again and ask for guidance, this will work out for you.
After you have rescheduled and moved, get organized and start looking for another job. Do not complain to your employer or mention your move.
If all of thee above fails, take your sick days and immediately start looking for a job.
Best Wishes!!

Go tp work. Once you get moved take your time in the evenings organizing everything. They are really counting on you to man that office so don't let them down. Be happy you are an important person to them!

If you cannot afford to lose your job, then go to work and organize all your stuff in the evenings after you had moved.
