This girl that I am friends with asked me not to attend her dance recital. My sister and I are both friends with her, and my sister just joined her dance team. Usually, I attend such events when my sister participates, but this girl literally begged that I would not come. She said that her team was not that good, and she did not want me there. Anyway, we have been friends for years, but I have gotten to know her much better over the past six months than I ever did before. Why would she ask me not to come? My own sister is in it after all. Any ideas?

Maybe her or your sister really stink and she doesn't want you to laugh at them

May be she'll feel embarrassed if she messes up in front of you. If Ur there ( in her mind) she may not be able to focus on what she's doing because she feels all eyes are on her and then she will miss a step.
By the way if she messes up it's not Ur fault it will be hers because she's so busy thinking of u looking at her and then may mess up
So u should have a talk with her and tell her that u have too and will be there because Ur sister is dancing and u don't like the fact that she had the nerve to ask u not to attend. U can care less about how she does Ur there to see your sister in a show.
And if she was any kind of friend she wouldn't have ask u not to attend because she's only thinking about herself. Tell her to
expect to see u there waiting to see your sister and wish her luck in what she's doing.

I cannot tell from your user name or your avatar...if you are a boy, she may be embarrassed to perform in front of you because she has a little (or not so little) crush on you.
If you are a girl.......I really cannot think of a reasonable answer as to why she would ask you not to attend.

I think one possible explanation is that she likes you and that she doesn't want to embarrass herself in front of someone that she likes. Something to either do with her lack of self confidence or that the dance is really not good.
