There are a few companies that i know of, even though the majority of the public may not. But yes alienware is good although overpriced. dell is somewhat good but still overpriced. Cyberpower is a good company to buy from and so is ibuypower, they sell good gaming rigs for less than $1k. Also i would definitely think of getting a pc with the intel core 2 duo processor, as even the E6600 will kill the amd fx-62 while being less than half the price and using 40% less power too. Make sure the computer has pci-express for future proof video card upgrades. best bet is a sli 7600 or 7900, and get at least 2 gb's or mem, not just for games, but for the upcoming windows vista. You'll will probably be future proof for at least a year (seeing as how tech advances soo fast ;) )

BTW: dell bought out alienware, so you may see better deals on dell itself. and if you want the best of the best, falcon northwest is the way to go.

You can't miss with www.newegg.com, if you want to by parts and build it yourself.
For prebuilt systems try www.monarchcomputer.com. Go with AMD and put the most $ in the video card. Make sure the system supports DDR2 ( Socket AM2 only) and has a 16X PCI-E slot for video. Stay away from tigerdirect unless you know exactly what you want.

A home-built PC is always best. Go for 3.6Ghz or better... dual-core and a video card with at least 256MB of DDR. Your system memory should be no less than 1Gig of DDR and a fast SATA hard disk.
