No because when would it end and how would it end without showing that you were not honest. Plus you always have to remember what lies you said or the truth will come out in the end.

I like how you use "TRUTH" it has a completely different meaning then "truth" the first being all encompassing and not subject to perspective. The second being that which I believe to be true and this will certainly differ from person to person. I would hope that I never compromise in regards to TRUTH, but realize that my perceptions are limited and understand the gross limitations holding all humans back from a real grasp of The TRUTH. Therefore be willing to compromise with others people who are doing the best they can, as much as possible.

Truth is truth and can't be compromised, it just IS (at least *our* version of what we understand to be true - everyone's perception of what is reality and true could be different).
What *can* be compromised is IF and HOW you deliver the truth. Truth might not be necessary. And you can share the truth in a ruthless way or a sensitive way.

"My dear scar, NEVER compromise truth internally. Always strive for absolute truth. Of course, we must externally divide our use of it. The military puts good use to the "national pastime" by incorporating sayings which compromise with irony when it's said: "You can tell others about the Rangers, but, never lie to a Ranger or an Officer." This simply means that you can lie to your acquaintences, but, never to compatriots or supervisors.
So, we've learned how to decern absolute truth, but, knowingly use only part of it to suit us and omit the rest."

As my mother always taught me, "When you tell the truth you don't have to remember what you said." and vice versa with a lie. My philosophy is if you lie you are only lying to yourself because the reaction you get from others will not be a truthfull reaction. It builds character when you tell the truth, even if you have to suffer a little and be responsible for your actions.

Sometimes yes it can be appropriate to compromise. We do it all the time and don't even realize it sometimes.
