Cut out saturated fats and transfatty acids, increase polyunsaturated fats, eat lots of fruit and veggies, and exercise.
If, at the end of 30 days, you aren't where you want to be, ask your doctor to prescribe something to help you reduce it.

From experiance, eat NO trans or Saturated fat... or very very little! Eat oatmeal everyday, eat lots of fresh fruit and vegatables, NO sugar unless it is natural such as the sugars in fruit. Extra virgin olive oil is better than normal olive oil. Sunflower seeds have the good polyunsaturated fat which will help lower the cholestrol.

Excersise is jolly important too. If you are strict and don't make excuses you will lower your cholestrol in a month!

Good luck!

Your HDL has to be minimum 45.... mine is 74. Secondly high tryglicerides is due to consumption of oily foods, deepfried items, consumption of alcohol. Change the cooking medium (oil) to Groundnut oil, include lots of fruits, raw or boiled vegetables... then also eat raw garlic. Go for walk that is 5 kms in 45 minutes every morning.....I have been doing it for thepast three years 7 days a week when my HDL was 40 and today it is 74. I am 55 yrs old now. HDL is bad cholestrol and can lead to blockage of arteries resulting into cardiac (heart) problems

Exercise, walking,Exercise! Cholesterol is produced by your body and not the food you eat, eat normally but stay away from
animal fats, eat chicken, salmon and oodles of veggies and fruit.
Try deep breathing exercises to relieve stress.
If that doesn't help you will have to go on a -statin drug to
lower it, But try the natural way first, because when you take -statin drugs you can't eat anything with Grapefruit and the drugs are metabolized in the liver, which isn't all that good,

You haven't mentioned your age and other complications. So it is difficult for me to advise as per my experience.

I had high cholesterol (I still don't know the reason - may be because of medicine took for a hypo-thyroid). So doctor gave me zimvastatin to control the level. I normally eat less. So therefore doctor did not ask me to control my foods. This zimvastatin exactly controls and lower the cholesterol. But it has to be continued and therefore risks and after-effects too.

My suggestion for you is to control high cholesterol foods and do some regular exercises. Also please avoid eating junk food.

however Please see your doctor first. Do not take precautions by yourself.

Eat oatmeal every morning. Take metamucil (or another source of fiber). Take a cod liver oil tablet with an 81 mg dose of baby aspirin. And lay off the red meat...

When generating cookies, bake half the batch and scoop the others into ice-cube trays. When your current sweet tooth kicks in, pop out one and bake it to fulfill your craving without breaking your calorie bank.
