We can stick our head in the sand and pretend that kids aren't having sex and then scream about the evils of abortions. Maybe if we'd at least teach them that "pulling out" ISN'T a form of birth control there would be fewer abortions.

Every time you come to this site you find 2-3 "Could I Be Pregnant" questions. Apparently a lot of people don't know how it happens.

That maybe the case in most situations, but are the kids able to feel safe & comfortable to go to a parent /parents to actually ASK?The kids are more active , these days, but i also do believe that they are to some degree trying to be more responsible. It is not only upto the teachers at school, but the parents of these kids need open & honest communication between their peers, and finally the people they trust. We need to be there for them ,no matter what, isn't that why we did become PARENTS?The kids too, need to take more responsibility, and realize that adults aren't always the enemy & learn to be abit more open with us.

Hey Zelda, before you tell ME to get my facts straight, you should. Abraham was NOT Christian... as there was no Christ yet. Also, only SOME Mormons gave up poligamy, there are Mormon traditionalists who still practice. They believe that since Mormons changed their stance so that Utah could be a state, THEY are the wrong ones. As far as a "good Mormon girl" goes, I like a woman who has respect for herself, not a girl who will marry a guy with 15 other wives. You make blind insults that only make YOU look dumb.

Here in Australia it is taught in Health class from the beginning of high school and revisited until grade 10 - not sure about the US but I would assume it would be covered (even if it is just the basics)

Sex education in schools is only basic information. Parents need to be able to give correct and accurate information to their children. Being able communicate with their children and being actively involved in their children's lives promotes a healthier self esteem.
