Look at the Galapagos finches, the birds that Darwin was inspired by. We can see how they've EVOLVED and adapted to their environment within the past 20 or so years. Other birds are coming in that eat large seeds. The finches can't eat those large seeds anymore, so they've developed smaller beaks so they can eat smaller seeds. Yet people still deny that evolution exists, even though the evidence is right under their noses. How ignorant and stupid can people be?

When you introduce an all-powerful God into a scenario, anything becomes possible and logical thought may be safely abandoned - e.g. "God created evolution" or "God put the dinosaur bones in the ground to give the earth a history."

Well, the universe exists I suppose and something put it here, and that something set up the laws of physics that led to evolution, so I guess you could that "something" is a god that created evolution.

However, the Christian God clearly does not reference evolution in the Bible, so I think that is yoru question. Yes, evolution definitely takes place. My personal opinion is that we did indeed evolve from other species.

The problemwith evolution from a Christian standpoint is it threatens their very belief system, which holds their lives together. Therefore, they can always appeal to the safe "out" that God made it look whatever way it looks, and we feeble beings can't possibly understand his reasons.

Of course, that is a circular argument which is logically satisfied by definition, but doesn't explain anything.

So why do so many deny evolution - well I guess it is fear of God.

There is a clear difference between adaptation and evolution. Adaptation is the change of a feature or ability to maintain life. These finches that darwin found did not evolve in a period of 20 years. They adapted in a period of 20 years. Evolution is the belief that one species completely changed into another species. You can't take something so large scale such as humans developed slowly from apes and call it the same thing as you would a birds beak size changing. All in all that bird is still a finch and when it mates it will still produce a finch and those offspring will still produce a finch. At no point in the process will that finch ever become a crow or a weasal or a crab. The dna will still be the same as the dna for a finch. To claim that humans came from chimpanzees is clearly just as far out as to say that God created man. Think of all the stuff that would have to go right in every step of that process. The chimpanzee would have to form some sort of deformity. And find another chimpanzee with that same deformity to mate with. (highly unlikely that he finds a normal mate and produces an offspring with that deformity because most deformities are recessive.) The process will have to continue being undaunted. Then somewhere in the process we will have to lose some chromosomes. Which is near impossible. And that creature will have to survive with its missing chromosome. So people who believe in creation arent ignorant because it is a simple solution to a big question. To say that things that look like us became us is kind of a simple solution too. Both far out there.

No one wants to deny the presence of evolution. However there are a couple of problems. One, then the whole thing which has been brought in religion will have alot of hard explaining to do (which some religions are trying to do) but at some point then they will have to deny religion. so thats a downfall!
then there is the whole missing link thing going on ... up to the part where chips are made from some evolution in exoskeleton species can make perfect sense. Now, although, humans look very much alike to chimps but they are not 100% related and they differ in the number of DNA chromosomes and several other factors which has made a big gap between the evolution of chimps to humans. If by finding a new fossil or similarities in DNA structure humans would be able to make this connection complete then there would be total sense to this hole story and people would more readily be in the accepting mood. Hope this has helped you understand why it is hard to accept it!

Evolution is also happening on a micro level. We are watching viruses and bacteria mutate and evolve right before our very eyes. And people are still evolving as well. Although it would be expected that different ethnic groups would have dis-similar DNA, each ethnic group has subcategories of DNA groups that are remarkably dis-similar to each other.

As for those who deny the existence of evolution . . .

Europe does not seem to have that problem. Neither does Russia, Australia, Japan, or other industrialized countries. This particular problem is unique - but only to America and Muslim countries. These groups of people have one thing in common. Both America - and Muslim countries as well - are dominated by religious fundamentalists.

In Europe and elsewhere, Christianity is interpreted figuratively. Some parts, such as the story of Adam and Eve, are treated as myths and legends. Other parts are treated rhetorically. All parts of the bible however, are treated less literally than the fundamentalists would like.

What is true for fundamentalist Christianity, is also true for Islam.

Both groups insist that all parts of their religious texts are literally true. And as a consequence, both groups lag far behind the rest of the world in scientific knowledge. Both groups reject scientific knowlege that appears to contradict their established dogma; and as a result, both groups represent an isolated and backwards group of people.

Ok, the first thing you do is label anyone who disagrees with you as stupid. Quite a bigoted comment from someone so highly evolved.
As for the finches, they have very modestly adapted to their environment, like horses and cattle do in Northern climates. The fossil record is replete with millions of species that have come and gone over millions of years. You simply cannot prove though, that ANY species changed into another. Yes slight adaptations have taken place, but not total transformation. Why the hell haven't "scientists" been able to change or "evolve" the simple fruit-fly after eons of trying. You can create variations of species but you can't turn a cocker spaniel into a tiger.
The reason some people challenge your fundamentalist religion is that: lots of Darwinist "evidence" has been faked or manipulated (peppered moths, Haeckel's drawings, Miller-Urey, and more), the fossil record is doesn't confirm your theories without blind "faith" that the HUGE gaps will someday be filled, and most importantly it defies common sense. There are no half-bats.
Your reaction is also telling. Simply dismiss any questions as "ignorant and stupid" without actually addressing any issue directly.

Hmm..first of all, Darwin never admitted that he was "wrong". He was just disappointed that people misunderstood his theory of evolution (eg. people evolved from monkeys). Second, I don't think evolution is the ONLY POSSIBLE explanation. That type of narrow-minded thinking supported Lamarck's theory of evolution (untrue), pre-Mendelian theory of inheritance (untrue), spontaneous generation theory (definitely not true!), etc way back then. You see? Nothing is really for certain. I study bio and see how textbooks update info all the time because new data keep popping up and changing the picture. Just keep your minds open...

Evolution is a theory used to describe how the world exists as it does today, and how it came to be this way.

Creationism is a theory used to describe how the world exists as it does today, and how it came to be this way.

Neither are facts. Both are theories.

Here is a fact: Water boils at 100 degrees celsius.

Here is another fact: Water boils at 98 degrees celsius.

Both are facts. Both are correct. It might take a long time to explain to you how water can be boiled at 98 degrees celsius, and you may never accept the explanation, but that does not change the fact that it can be done.

Evolution does exist - but only as a theory.

Creationism does exist - but only as a theory.

One draws from "science," the other from "religion."

Be careful that your own mind does not become clouded to the point of no longer being open-minded.

Simply. With denial.

[self denial to the evidence, denial of the existance of an intellectual perspective of an educated modern society, and denial of....
fossils.]

But, why didn't your darwin finches 'develop' to eat the large seeds themselves? Please, if you are going to spark a debate on evolution, PLEASE phrase your question more eloquently, using words like evolve, or gradually accumulate change through modification with decent.. you know, the words Darwin used.. and Wallace, Galton, Huxley, Morgan, Buffon and Cuvier, through to Dawkins, Gould, and Wilson, etc. thanx.

btw, point of interest to 'kilablb'. There is plenty of evidence of benificial mutations, for example we can see how fly wing beat frequency gets longer in decendant flies, if flight activity time is selected for. This is mutation accumulation, and benificial mutations. Ok. Genetic mutations?, well the flying strength has a genetic bases, but you want another example? Increased activity of enzymes to degrade semi-toxic substances in bacteria. Accumulation of benificial genetic mutations that allow descendant cells to break down the toxin more efficiently.....

Plenty of mutations can affect organisms, and be non-harmful (please lookup non-deleterious mutation). Furthermore, mutations can be benificial. THERE IS ALOT OF EVIDENCE... oh, based on experimental investigation and collection of empirical data..

Very ignorant and stupid. In fact the ones denying evolution have almost no biology backgrouns and are shown time and time again to be less educated than those who understand evolution.

Big Bang or Evolution?

Some scientists believe in the theory of the big bang and evolution... hmm... this is really astonishing. Here is a quote from Albert Einstein.

"At any rate, I am convinced that He [God] does not play dice." - Albert Einstein (1879-1955), in a letter to Max Born, 1926

Even one of the greatest scientist of all time knows the universe could have not been created randomly. In fact, he was even convinced with what he just said. Its sometimes funny that most scientist believe the theory of evolution. But in fact, the evolution theory is a contradiction to scientific law.

The law of entropy (Second law of Thermodynamics) states that in any isolated system (No outside force), the degree of disorder can only increase. Our universe is an isolated system, so the degree of disorder is always increasing. - http://me.essortment.com/entropylawssc_recn.htm

So, in order to produce the universe, or before we become more intelligent creatures, there should be an outside force who should intervene. Obviously, God was the one who created everything in this world.

It is impossible (take note, not even improbable), that the universe was created by mere random events. Here is a classic example, if you try to explode a building, even trillions of times, do you expect it to form into a magical palace? Excuse me... but I think a 3 year old knows that this is impossible.

About the theory of evolution, many argued that mutations in DNA might be a proof of the evolution process. Well, let me tell you that mutation is just, but a nicely coined term for "DEFECT". Mutation is in accordance to the law of entropy because mutation is merely a disorder from your DNA. That is why you see babies born with a defective body. I'm not saying that I'm not an X-Men fan, but you never mutate to become a better human being, but mutate to become less human, less perfect, disorder.

There is not a single proof that even remotely proves the big bang or evolution theory. Anyway, why do people keep on trying to prove things outside biblical truth when the bible time and time and again has proven itself to be the ultimate word of God.

I hope this small article helped you understand the truth.
