That is really not that hard of a question to answer.
I mostly see Rap groups who reference themselves somewhere in the song. I guess it a marketing tool.
The Monkees. Don't knock them they were an actual group even though some say they were not. The theme song was very popular on the radio and their album was 13 weeks on the number one charts. The theme song refrenced very much to the group. "Hey, hey were the Monkees"
Kid Rock in his song "Cowboy" references back to himself "Kid Rock and I'm the real Mccoy"
Many could make a really long list of groups and singers that have referenced themselves in their songs.
