I'm 25, in good shape, and financially stable from smart investment decisions. I'm interested in becoming a firefighter so I can help people and have an exciting job, and I was wondering if any other firefighters could give me some insight into the traning and rigors of the job.

Serious answers only, please.

is not what it was when I became one, takes a lot of study, drill hard physical skills and ability to endure hard physical work over short periods of time. Is very tough on heart going from zero to 60 in nothing flat. Can be very rewarding, but do not expect a "white knight" award. They are subject to the same whims of city management as anyone. else

If you truly want to be a firefighter and want to help other people you don't need some insight of what the training should be. Just go there and ask them directly. Chicken head.

If you want to help people, go for it. I'm sure there is a local fire fighting agency close by to you, stop by and make some friends, that the best info you will get.
