I didnt understand it! What is the ending all about, where the blonde girl turns into a ghost and disappears leaving her boyfriend holding an old book?
Maybe i didnt watch it properly because it didnt make much sense!

In the original they came back for the priest to kil him. In the remake they came back for the girl. Make sense?

at least you were awake until the end. honestly, i wish i could help you, but i found that version just as bad as the original. not to arouse the ire of all you john carpenter fans, but i just couldn't get behind it. here's hoping someone will make some sense out of it for you.
