Give it BACK! You should not even hesitate. How would you like it if someone basically stole your wallet or purse like this? Think of what that person is going through right now. Get their phone no. out of the wallet, leave everything in it, and call them NOW and give it back to them. Keys, cash and all. I personally have both returned wallets I found and lost one once. The one I returned - the man insisted on giving me a $20 reward. The one I lost? Well, someone stole the money out if it ASSHOLE but finally the Police Dept called because someone turned it in with the contents intact. I was grateful to have it back.
If you don't want to call the person yourself take it to the Police Dept NOW!

Well i would want to hand deliever it myself, by any form of ID in side the wallet, but today, people, willc all the cops, and say you took money from the wallet, even if you didn't, so i would probably drop it off at the police station, and explain where i found it, and give the police my contact information, incase they have any more questions. Just incase, tehre's a link to the wallet concerning a crime, not that i can help with anything, but the more information you give the less likely you will get in trouble. Todays world is so messed up, that even when you try to help someone, it bites you in the butt.
Keeping it would only worsen the situation, you might think it is a good idea now, but you will feel guilt, and regret in the future, even if you do flash it around your head, that you were immature at the time.
A wallet and people's ID's, and social security cards, are a VITAL part of someone's life... sometimes even more valuable than the money inside.
I'm totally agaisnt stealing, but if your GOING To steal, leave the rest of the wallet behind! Dont take someone's important information! my brother's wallet was stolen, he couldn't drive, because he didn't have his ID, and he lost his money inside the wallet, and his ATM card, he had NO way of getting his money out of the bank, no id, no atm card. He couldn't get money to get his new ID, or get gas, or anythign. He was completely lost.
ALl his college ID's were missing, hsi Parking pass, his Laundry room pass, everything, his life, was completely turned upside down, for a month...
How would you feel it that was one of yoru relatives? or even you?.... if you're going to steal, just take the money, debit cards dont help... peopel can lock their accounts before you even use the card.

I would turn the things into the police department. I do not know who those people are that drove off and if no one claims it the police can let you have the money. Or I would donate the money to a local charity. If I was in real need of the money, I probably would keep it, but other than that, I would turn the money in.

If you know the person and it's a friend call him/her and give the items back. If you don't know the person, you can call the police and they will pick it up and return it. If your not honest, take the cash, wipe the fingerprints off
and put the items in the mail box. The postal
service will return the items. If you take the money, that's one thing; the person really needs
the keys and the wallet (credit cards, driver's
license) etc. You could also call the person and arrange a meeting- I am sure he/she will come to you or an anonymous public meeting place.
My question is, "How honest are you"?

Look here!!! I have found a few wallets in my day, that were crammed full of cash and credit cards. I even got yelled at by my ex-husband for doing the right thing and turning them in. The bottom line is that it is not yours. It is a karma thing. I have lost my purse before, that was full of a nights tips from waitressing, and it was returned with every penny. Maybe it was just luck, but I would like to think, it was from doing the right thing. Let your conscience be your guide.

Yes it should be turned in or an ad run in paper the wallet may contain important items that are worth more than money. It olso could be very expensive to get a new set of keys made.I try to think of how horrible this would be to me so i would never wish it on another person.

I would check with everyone that had visited with me that day. If i could not find the owner then I would report it to the police. Without a doubt its the best thing to do.
I have actually found money in the street before and reported it to the police

depended on if i needed the money or not. this is a world of survival and although the proper thing would be to turn the money over to authorities in these times you need to look out for number one and your family. that money could by food, medicine and countless other things. as far as the keys go, not much you can do there, cause there is no way of knowing who they exactly belong to and you can't put an ad in the paper, they may not see it. it's best to keep the keys in a drawer or something and hope they come around for them, if not they can always have spares made.

I would turn it in to the police. I once found a wallet with $250 in it, and turned it in. I found a purse with someone's passport in it and turned it in. The police officer was ticked at me, because I made him pick up a pen and paper and write out a report. I hope his day was better than mine was.
