i had two inductions and because one baby was 1 week late the other because of a heart defect....i found them more painful and quicker...the contractions are really intense, if you can go into labour naturally, its more better, the doctor used a gel of some kind i started within 5 minutes of application.

Labor induction is usually necessary to save the life of the mother or baby. (The mom or her body isn't ready to give birth.) First the cervix is made softer by using a jell. Then the mother gets hooked up to pertosin to induce labor. Since there isn't a natural progression to labor, the contractions are so strong it's difficult for the mom to tolerate them. At this time the mom request a spinal block. Unfortunaltly the spinal block tends to slow down labor. So between the strong contractions & slowness of the labor it becomes difficult for the baby to get oxygen. This procedure many times end up in a C-Section.

I was and I don't reccomend it either. You can't get up and move around due to the contractions being hard and fast. They gave me cervadil an effacement medication on a tampon looking thing that must be placed on your cervix and you must lay flat for 2 hours. A man put mine in and then could not remove it..ouch...I was in labor for 27 hours before having a csection...

I was induced and it was horrible. Very painful and I dialted so fast my cervix tore, I went into shock an had to have a blood transfusion. I dont recamenned it unless it is your doctors choice, even then, Id question it. your contractions come hard and fast.
