Remember where the word comes from his-story. In the past it has been always written by a wealthy male, on behalf of the victors. We never hear the losers story, or the woman's story, or the poor persons story. So past history has been very biased towards the elites, and much of our current thinking is based on that biased history.
You have been very observant with your question. I believe that official history, like 'what we will find in the libraries in the future', will still be written by the victors, because they are able to control the publishing rights and will not publish anything which speaks badly of them.
However, Internet now provides the facility for everyone to chip in with their views, and so we are able to get much nearer the truth by using discernment when surfing. But will this discerned truth be recorded as official history - I doubt it

Nowadays there are very few wars that have winners and losers. Take for example Israel and Hizbollah, Israel bombed southern Lebanon to rubble, but Hizbollah is still standing. Who do you think won? Both have excellent PR teams but most western nations will believe Israel, because of obvious reasons
Yes, the histories of the First and Second world wars and many wars before that were written by the victors.

Hey - it's Pallas Athena again. When I was a kid I didn't realise that History was being used as a brainwashing devise to produce good little patriots. I thought the Crusades were good things, I thought it was the Spanish and Portuguese running the slave trade - nobody told me that Liverpool and Bristol got rich on it. I even thought that the English behaviour in Scotland after the 1745 Rebellion was justified.
History is always subjective since it is filtered through the political beliefs and attitudes of the person compiling it.

My initial reaction to your question was yes, history is still written by the victor. However, with the internet and the flow of information around our world there tends to be various points of view. There is definitely a history that certain people want us to believe such as rich white conservative men but I think most of us know better and like it or not, history will be written more by consensus...

So as the Victor has always prov-en to be the protector of freedom, with that comes the freedom of the press. One must always accompany the other. In the end human intelligence will prevail over false information. With the nature of the beast desiring freedom, the road at times seems rough but freedom will always be the victor.

Good point. There does seem to be a lot of strange versions of some of the most recent events in the world running around on the Internet.

There is still an element of truth in what you say, but with a "free" press, it is less likely unless the owner of the relevant media empire supports the administration in power.
