Sheet metal workers mainly concentrate on metal forming (ie. measurement of required materials, cut it within exact point, including moulding to the exact requirments). Welders are mainly engaged in joining the module (cut parts) to become integral, either by using electric or acetylene welding equipment.

There is a big difference.
Welders weld together large and small pieces of metal. All shapes and sizes.
Sheet metal workers work with thin sheets of metal, bending, shearing, spot welding, riveting, and sometimes welding them together. A typical sheet metal job would be furnace and air conditioner duct work.
