Well I just graduated and omg yes, you have to have top brand clothing like hollister, abercrombie & fitch, american eagle, etc... so when I was in high school I'd shop at those places so I could be considered "cool" I was on the cheer leading team (kinda boring!!) so after a few years of wasting my parents money I buy atleast 4 or 5 shirts from each of these places then buy cheaper "but hey it looks designer" clothes from jc penneys sears, wal-mart to save money and no one knew I had "cheaper" clothes :)

I teach at a middle school in a middle-sized urban area. Brand names aren't all that popular, but it kinda matters where the clothes came from for some reason. The really popular kids are actually pretty "normal" in their dress. Usually jeans with a funky t-shirt (like concert tees or skater). Sometimes the girls where interesting shorts and tops, like mix-match, but it doesn't come across as dressy. I think the key is to be yourself. Kids can smell a fake or wannabe.

Clothing is a expression of your individual style. It's about the overall package ,you can wear name brands and still not be popular. Its about you being unique and standing out. Wear the clothes don't let them wear you. To answer question for the most part yes, and other hand there are those who make off brands look chic.

Sorry to say, but kids absolutely need to wear brand name clothing to school. I am in college and there is still pressure to be wearing big names.

Well not really but they are called "trendy" "preppy" "jocks"

I hate it when people don't wanna wear something because it isn't from a popular clothing name or line, I always wear what ever I like and what ever I feel comfy in. I don't care if people think im uncool or whatever. Who needs fake friends anyways? I don't.
