The action of downloading through Limewire is not illegal. Downloading copyrighted material is illegal using Limewire or any other software. If the creator of a video, image or music makes it available for download then it is not illegal. Most commercial stuff is copyrighted and without permission for free distribution (uploading & downloading).

Almost certainly it's illegal.

As soon as anything is created in tangible form (images, videos, music, words etc etc) it is automatically copyrighted - there's no procedure to go through. Unless someone specifically puts their work into the public domain then it remains copyrighted and can't be reproduced or used without permission.

Downloading is only legal if the copyright has been relinquished or the copyright holder has given permission for his / her work to be downloaded.

Copyright in the US is 95 years from the time of creation, in most of the rest of the world it is 70 years from the death of the creator.

As the internet is less than 70 years old it's safe to say that pretty much everything on the internet is copyrighted (which is contrary to what a lot of people think)

You hold the copyright to the question you wrote, I hold the copyright to this answer, Yahoo holds the copyright to the rest of the page.

Depends. You can get many pictures just from searching for them in yahoo pictures or from a number of internet searches. Video's depending upon what ones you download, depends upon where you download them. Some site you are able to view the download right off the site, such as disney or nick, you are able to view some of the shows right off the site and it's legal.

Their is also, youtube, which is full of video's that people have uploaded. Which as far as I can tell is legal, although it does clearly state you can't upload TV shows. But I have seen TV show on it. So apparently the site is doing a good job on seeing what is uploaded.
