If the minimum wage is raised, wouldnt everyone need to raise everyone elses wage inorder to even out everything? And wouldnt everyone need to raise prices on everything inorder to afford the pay increase? And wouldnt this end up weaking the value of our dollar? How exactly does the Conservative idea of low taxes hurt the poor? Wouldnt the Liberal idea of raising taxes hurt them???

Ive already noticed people saying that the people who get paid 7 dollars an hour will not get a pay increase if the minimal wage is raised to 7 dollars. There is a reason some people get paid more than others. If im doing a harder or higher educational job than the minimal wage guy, i should get paid more. Obviously you guys dont understand how buissnesses work. And if they dont even it out, then what will happen to the buissness that is giving these people their jobs and providing for society? They wont make enough money. Then there will be no job for the minimal wage guy.

And lets still say that minimal wage is raised, but nobody elses wage is raised. This will close the margin right? Sounds a little bit too much like communism. Everyone making relatively the same amount. Why would i work harder at a real job when i can get paid the same handing people burgers?

You are absolutely right, and these knuckleheads have no idea how the business world actually works !! They also seem to think that the minimum wage is a wage that was designed to support a family on, which is ridiculous. Its a starting wage, and anyone trying to raise a family on it is either stupid, lazy, uneducatable, or has made the very poorest of life decisions.

The problem here is that some businesses can't afford to
pay everybody at least a minimum wage, so they cut those
jobs out. Now that person who would have been hired at
$5.50 has no job at all. Does this help the poor? More and
more people will be unemployed, and expect the government
to pay them not to work (called unemployment pay). It really
doesn't make sense to go this route. Low taxes can be a help.
It takes the rich (those who own businesses) to be able to hire
employees, and this of course, helps the poor to have a job
and get paid. You also have to live according to your income
and not want new houses, new cars, expensive sport tickets,
multiple tvs, computers, Ipods etc etc if you can't afford them
on the salary you make. This is where a lot of the trouble starts.
People live beyond their means, and live a life being in debt for
these things and their charge cards maxed out. We shouldn't try to "keep up with the Jones'es". If the minimum wage is raised to
$7.00, we all know it will just be a matter of time when those who
now make $7.00 will want another raise of the minimum wage.

Basically, companies only exist to make as much money as they can. They pay people the lowest possible wages they can as long as people are willing to work under those conditions. If the minimum wage is raised, it forces companies to pay people at least that amount, whether they like it or not. However, they will not voluntarily raise the wages of other employees -- that means more money going out to employees and less money coming in from sales. The only wages to be raised will be those of the poor workers getting minimum wage, so they'll win out.
Higher taxes also help the poor. Poor people are taxed less than rich people (percentage-wise). That money then goes to the public and funds things like schools and social security. Poor people do not put much money into things like that because they don't have enough money. Rich people, however, pay A LOT in taxes, so they foot most of the bill for schools. Poor people benefit because the schools are better, but they aren't the ones paying the big bucks for things like schools and social security. Most liberals only want increased taxes for the rich so that they can pay back their community -- it's not like they don't have enough money already -- and that money goes to helping everybody, but especially the poor.

It doesn't help anyone except for the politicians that use the issue to buy votes by fooling the guliable into thinking, the politician gave them a raise.
Walter Williams nailed it the other day. How people are split on this issue depends on how they believe the economy works. If you believe the number of jobs does not change if you raise wages then it is reasonable to believe that raising the minimum wage doesn't hurt. However, thats assuming the same amount of labor is going to be used no matter the cost and that's simply not true.
The problem is the victims of the minimum wage are never seen they are invisible and untrackable. Because they are the unemployed, who earn the real minimum wage $0 / hr.

It would cause the future employees to be hired at a higher wage. There is nothing that states that previous employees have to get a raise. Just the ones making current minimum wage; they would get the new raised wage.
How does the Conservative idea save us money?? At least the Liberals are up front with the fact that you will pay more money. The conservatives say they want to leave taxes low, or cut them to save us money, but then we pay higher prices for things. Funny how that works. How much money am I saving right now with conservatives in the White House? I mean, I am paying over $3 per gallon for gas, aren't I?? The car that used to cost me around $20 to fill up now costs me over $40. Saving money how????

No one else will get an increase in pay ( I seriously doubt this) and it doesn't help at all cause prices will go up in order to not weaken the value of the dollar. In all actuality the only thing that can save the poor is education. Knowledge is power, but then again not everyone can afford that either. Perhaps that should have been a priority in accessibility. That would even everything out.

elevating the minimum salary will shrink the form of jobs accessible to low skill workers, inspite of the undeniable fact that those that still have jobs will be more effective efficient off. the web effect is determined by who loses their jobs and analyze have shown that a wide fraction of the minimum salary jobs are held by technique of middle type childrens. inspite of the undeniable fact that elevating the minimum salary will improve the wages of workers who're paid close to yet above the minimum because employers opt to preserve experienced workers, and so pay them a touch more effective to stay, and maximum of those are literally not childrens who're regularly pupils and be conscious the roles as non everlasting. The effect is to improve the web income of the team on the bottom of the income distribution. To pay more effective wages some organization might want to will improve expenditures , so those who devour an rather good type of low salary exertions like abode cleansing and backyard amenities, ingesting out plenty, and so on is often losers.

Actually, no. The liberal view point is that the government is of the people, for the people and by the people, so government should step in where private industry doesn't, and its the private industry which gets all the tax breaks when conservitives are in control. the American people, better known as saps don't get anything. That we have had six years of abusive behavior from our government seems to please conservitives, and the only thing that keeps Bush in control is that he has more dangerous people as back-ups, not even conservitives are happy with the price gouging going on with this team. but they imagine such abuse is godly, I guess, go figure. Jesus teaches that his father is a liberal, but don't try and convince the conservitives of this, they want to be punished and taxing industry is the last thing they want.

You have a pile of three boxes setting on the floor, how do you move it. If you go and lift the top box only the top box moves. If you lift the middle box then the middle and top box moves, and if you lift the bottom box you lift and move all three boxes. So how does it help to give tax cuts for the very wealthy and run up a deficit that you grand children will still be paying on? It is called supply side economics and the repuglicans always try it and it always fails and causes a recession. Always.

There is a small margin of descrepancy between the absolute minimum wage people will work for and the amount of wages an employer is willing to pay out in order to make a profit.
Marginal increases in minimum wage will not increase prices. They will effect profit margins, but not impact the entire economy directly. In otherwords, minimum wage is not directly correlated to the rate of inflation.
Lower taxes means less government intervention and therefore less waste.
