Maldives has long been picture as the ultimate holiday destination. For the pristine beaches, white soft sand, and undeniably glaring sun, do you agree? and tell me why do you like maldives.

THERE ARE NO CARS ON THE SMALLER ISLANDS, NO LOUTS AND NO NOISE. NO RUBBISH CLEAN AIR
THE PRICE OF A HOLIDAY MEANS THAT IT WILL NEVER BE LIKE THE MED.
THE WEATHER, THE BEACHES, THE SCUBA DIVING, AND THE SERVICE IS SECOND TO NONE

It has precisely those things - pristine beaches, soft white or golden sand, and beautiful weather. Because the islands are resorts, there is no traffic noise or pollution (well, except maybe for a boat or two), and you have everything you need for a pamper holiday right there, including alcohol - it's only prohbited to the native (Muslim) population.

The service is generally excellent, and like most places, if you show an interest in the people and their language (Divehi, I think) they will be nice to you.

But the thing that makes the Maldives better than other exotic locations such as the Seychelles, the Caribbean and Mauritius is the quality of the coral reefs and therefore the excellence of the snorkelling and diving. The snorkelling you can do from your own beach, and the dive instructors can take you to brilliant dive sites every time - there is such diversity, and in my experience, the diving is better in the Maldives than on the Great Barrier Reef, or in the Caribbean or even Bora Bora in the South Pacific.

You haven't been to Mauritius I see.

Mauritius is of volcanic origin, so there are differences from Maldives. Maldives is almost all about the sea, Mauritius has stuff to do inland, outside the resorts too.

Mauritius also has white sand, hot sun, but the service is much better.
