I wouldn't be crazy about it but I wouldn't totally object to it. If you want one, though, I'd say go for one, and not worry about what other people think because your friends and girlfriends would like you for the navel-piercing person you are. It's the man that makes the navel ring, not the other way around. ;)

Well, it depends.
Rule number one for navel piercings, regardless of sex, is that you cannot be fat. Period, end of story. There are few things in this world more disgusting and unappealing than seeing some fat girl in a belly shirt with a shiny piece of jewelry directing your eye to the unseemly mound of fat spilling out over her waistline. You need to at least have a flat belly, if not muscle definition.
Secondly, and this will probably be more of an issue seeing as you're a male, you have to watch out for hair around the navel. Not only can it get caught, tangled, whatever, but it doesn't look that nice. Plus, too many hair follicles could result in ingrown hairs or follicular cysts (basically little pimples next to the hole). None of which are all that pleasant to have, or attractive.
Third, it makes you looks really feminine. It would be like getting a butterfly tattoo'd on your lower back. Sure, you COULD do it and it might be a nice design, but it's still seen by the general population as being feminine.
If you decide to do it, hey, more power to you but just remember that a lot of people are going to think you're gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you might not appreciate the stigma attached to effeminate males in today's society.
Screw the belly button, I say. Nipples are great, I pierced my own, and tomorrow I'm getting my johnson pierced. I'm told it's fantastic.

The first thing that I think when I see a guy with a navel ring is that he is gay. I don't even like them on girls.

Well, Personally, I think it is very hot and sexy. My boyfriend had his navel pierced, but then it almost got ripped out, so he took it out to let it heal shut. He got it pierced again, and I think it looks amazing. He told me that he was going to put on some body fat for me, because I think he is too muscular looking. I like guys to look like teddy bears. But that's beside the point. Anyway, I think you should do it, or if you already have it done, I'm sure it looks sexy!

My dad got his navel pierced. He said he was starting a trend but I think that it is mostly perceived as being gay for guys to have their navel pierced. If you have a nice tummy and it doesn't bother you what other people think, then go for it.

Mm, as long as the guy was thin or in shape I think that a navel piercing would be quite sexy.

I'm not a huge fan of them. On some guys, its very suiting, but i find its very hard for a guy to pull it off. But either way, who cares what we all think. If a guy wants to get his navel pierced, and its comfortable for him, then i say what the hell, go for it. If i listened to people when they told me not to get any of my piercings...i'd be...well...unpierced
