I'm moving to arizona from california so it's a pretty big jump in temperatures. Someone once told me that it's a good idea to get a triple-core radiator and new coolant system before the move to ensure my car can handle the heat. Can any arizona residents/experts give some advice as to whether this is necessary or what kinds of mods/maintenance should be done? I'll be moving to the Tempe area as a graduate student at ASU so low-cost options would be great! Thanks!

I moved from Vermont to Arizona back in the 70's, and did noting to the car I purchased here, and drove out, never had a problem with it at all.

it was 104 degrees and humid in Texas today That is far harder than DRY HEAT. Don't do a thing! Most modern cars can take 110 desert heat just fine providing coolant is right and pressure cap is good and cooling system can pass a pressure test. 60% water 40% antifreeze and 14 to 17 psi cap should be good for 250 degree boiling point. Be sure you have all of the air out of the cooling system. You will be just fine study hard.

just go to your local Garage,,and tell them to replace the Thermostat for hotter weather,,and have your cooling system checked and serviced,,,,,the car manufacturers did not build cars specificly for Arizona,,,they have the same cars that you drive,,,and they will not be modified to any extreem degree.
Unless its a Hotrod you are driving,,,i wouldnt worry.
