I briefly caught 2 different episodes of NEXT of MTV showing gay and lesbians looking for dates. Why is this such a "trend" among young people???

You know, when I came out as bi in 1992, I was accused of being a trendy teenager. I was 18.

Now I'm 32, and it's 2006, and people still say it's a trend for teenagers! Shouldn't we admit that it's kind of a classic that always works, and not a trend, by now? After all, Alexander the Great and Hadrian were bi thousands of years ago, too.

A "trend" how do you consider it a trend... It's estimated that between 1/10 - 2/10 people are actually homosexual... Which means out of 5 people around you... One is probably actually one... And chances are another one is bi... Whether they admit that or not... is there problem...

You see... You can't have something that is engrained into you as a trend... Now, is it true that young people are more intelligent, more infomed, and more open to the idea of homosexuality... yes, which probably shows you why it seems like it's more "in trend" than it has been... But its just as "in trend" as being black..

I don't think it's a trend, really. I think that gays and lesbians feel more comfortable coming out than ever before, so there is more exposure to it in the media. I think the taboos are being lifted, to a degree, so it's more accepted in everyday culture. If it bothers you, then change the channel. There will always be people who act and think differently than you, but you don't have to listen or watch if you don't want to. I think the real "trend" is that people are feeling more comfortable being themselves, and than includes being gay. Just my opinion! :)

Why is it you're so worried about gay people that you sit around and think up one accusatory question after another? Did someone gay insult you yesterday or something? Are you still burning mad about it?

"Young people." Aha. So ... because it's on TV it's a "trend"? So if it just all went away then YOU wouldn't be bothered. Wouldn't that be nice for you. But the world doesn't work like that.

Do you really mean to be offensive? Or are you really like this?

It isn't a "trend". It is real life. Get used to it. Maybe if you would stop watching TV, get off the couch, get out of your house and meet some real people you would know this.

Because todays children thrive on being different and looking different, and now that it is encouraged by the community..they think Hey Why not I will see what it's like.
I am a very sexually active person and I am straight, but I have tried women, that doesn't mean I tell the people I meet on the street, or encourage the young people to. I mean I didn't try women until I was 26, and it was an experience of sexual pleasure, not immaturity which could change my sexuality forever.

I don't know if I'd call it trendy, but it does seem like it's becoming more and more the "in" thing to do. Personally, I don't really care for all the glamorization. I think it all sort of downplays the gays and lesbians who have chosen it as a lifestyle by making our choices seem more like a passing fad.

I think that lots of people have always been bi or gay, and now that it is becoming more acceptable, they have jumped on the chance to express it. So I guess the "trendy" part is feeling confident enough to express who you really are.

It hasn't become trendy to be gay or lesbian. It has become easier to live in this world if you are gay or lesbian. It may seem trendy, but it is really just more freedom.

Oh no, God forbid there are people open about thier sexuality on TV!

But then agian, I do think they are trying to take the gay thing just to get ratings.

Get over it, stop being so insecure.
