In 1978 I was not allowed to try-out for Little League baseball in my town, I was allowed to be "batgirl" This was back when little league was 9-12 yrs olds, well our league had 9 and 10 year old games on friday nights so the 9 and 10 year olds could get extra playing time because the rule used to be you only had to bat once or play 3 outs each game, so they put 2 teams together to make a full team of 9 and 10 years and they played. During these "practice games the batboys and girls could play, well I would like to say I out shined every boy every Friday night. The next year I was allowed to tryout and I was picked 3rd and I made the all-star team every year after that. I batted 625 as a 12 year old and had zero strike outs and and an had a 100 percent slugging percentage (that means that I hit the ball EVERYTIME I was up to bat, other than the times that I got walked. Well when it came high school time I was tolded girls played softball, they said it was fast picth, yea right but anyway I still wish I would of played baseball.
I didn't get to play after that but I have couched boys baseball for 20 years and high school baseball for 7yrs....So I think if you work hard you can do it! Right now you may be as strong as the boys, but you wont always be so learn what your stregnths are, learn to bunt, know the game, you dont have to be big or strong to catch a fly ball or the ball to a cut off...PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE AND DONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER

I think you have a shot if you want it. You cant be equal or just as good as the boys. You have to be much better.
I dont want this to sound wrong but you could do for women what Jackie Robinson did for blacks. If you did make it to the majors you would have to be really good. If Robinson was just a decent player do you think that more teams would sign black players. The same would go for you.
If you really want to do this and no minor league teams sign you, try playing in Japan or Central/South America. If you do well a scout may notice you
Im sure that if your decent, a minor league team would at least sign you as a publicity stunt. They always do that.
Good luck.

I am not going to tell you that you cannot, but you will have to first try out for the high school team...That will be up to your coaches to decide whether or not they want a girl on their team...Nothing against you, but they probably will not...Another side note, however, if you ARE seriously considering playing professionally, go to an MLSB (Major League Scouting Bureau) Tryout when you turn 16, I just checked their rules (link is below for a little more info), and it only says that all players must provide their own equipment and mentions nothing about gender limitations

Honestly, it's not going to be easy, but you have a shot. They're always looking for talent, and if you have it, go with it. Ever seen Rudy? He had absolutely no talent at football, but still got to play at Notre Dame because he had heart. Just make sure if it's something you really want to do, use people's doubt as fuelk to try even harder and prove them wrong. I'll keep an eye out at the farm systems to see how you're doing, good luck!

I think that if you were 19 or 20 now, you'd have no chance. But since you're younger, there's time for attitudes to change about women in professional sports.
A friend insists that the pros are all male because NO woman could possibly be as good as the worst male pro, but I think it just isn't acceptable yet.

I think you can do anything you put your mind to. Were would women be today if Amelia Arheart decided not to fly or Susan B. Anthony decided it wasn't worth our time to get to vote? Go to the library and look up some historical facts on great women of our times and show this to your friends and family. Never give up on your dream. What you do could make a big difference in future lives.

Although your 14, don't ever give up your dreams, but remember to keep it real. Have a backup plan if your dreams don't turn out as you have hoped. So if you don't make it, then you have something to fall back on and if you do make it and once your career in baseball ends, you'll also have something to fall back on.
If baseball doesn't work out, what else would you like to do?

Ila Borders was a left handed pitcher who pitched in the men's NCAA and also in the low minors.
Nice photo of her at http://www.siegelproductions.ca/photoaddicts/index.htm
It'll be very hard for you to make it as a batter, because of biology, but start working on spotting that fastball.

in line with possibility they do no longer decide on you to circulate off to college. Empty nest syndrome would be problematic. Or they have not got faith you're able to do it. coach them incorrect get provides and an entire holiday. Blow the lack of ability of religion top out of the water. basically tell them whilst intense college is over your gonna circulate to varsity and in the event that they ask the place say you basically have not desperate yet.
