I'm 39 weeks pregnant and still haven't had contractions. My doctor said that if by august 18 i still haven't had my baby that she was goin to induce it. My question is (Should i tell her to induce it this time i go to my next appintment that is on the 15, thats 3 days before my due date or should i wait untill the baby wants to come out?) I also can't wait a long time because i could be at risk for c-section.

I'm due on the 18th and it is killing me!! I'm at 2 cm and 80% effaced. Believe me, if my doctor would, I would ask for him to induce me. But my doc will not do it until 2 weeks after your due date. I'm tired of hurting and being tired and miserable. If they let you, go for it girl!!!

listen to your doctor.

the doctor may want to induce so that if you are at risk for a C section it won't be an emergency situation. You will really appreciate this later. The less stress on you and the baby the better.

Keep in mind: when you are induced, a lot of the unknowns are taken care of. Relax and try to get a little sleep.

Good Luck and Best Wishes to your family.

I've had 2 kids and the first one I got induced. BIG MISTAKE I was impatient and wanted her to hurry up and come out but the Pain is 10 times worse, they give you this drug called potocian (I think that's how you spell it) and it causes your uterus to contract but they are much longer, 10 times stronger and never let up than normal contractions. It was hard to breathe because of the pain it was just continuous. I got an epidural but not until 17 hours later I could not dilate past 2 cm so they finally burst my water bag she didn't come until 4 hours later. My second was natural the contractions were painful but once I got admitted they gave me the potocian again in my IV to hurry up my contractions Man it was killer. I did dilate faster the 2nd time around but the pain just never let up it was traumatic and I could not enjoy my daughter's birth. My advice wait until as long as you possibly can, have the baby without any inducing drugs, then next get the epidural, you will enjoy seeing your child come out and won't feel thrashed during the process. Good luck and congratulations!!!

I have three daughters, so I KNOW how ready you are to get it over with. However, I didn't ever have a really good experience with being induced, although I ended up with it all three times. If you CAN wait to go on your own, it is much better. Above all else, know that your doctor will have the best advice considering all the variables of your situation.

Good luck! Labor and delivery is an amazing experience - its messy and uncomfortable at times, but nothing to fear!

I would go for inducing but keep in mind that inducing labor gives a whole new meaning to the word PAIN. It's like taking your lower lip and pulling it up over your face. I was induced for my 2nd child and it wasn't real pretty but it beat the heck out of a C-section. I went home before he was even 24 hours old and felt great.

I would wait until the baby is ready to come. I myself have had a natural and c-section birth and I would have a natural birth any day. With our son I was induced 3 weeks early and he was a fine healthy boy. I would wait and let the bub come when it is ready. Good luck

Ask your accepted practitioner. human beings plan C-sections each and every of the time. My maximum suitable buddy has hers scheduled six days before than her due date. in case you at the instant are not having a c-section, then stay faraway from the PITOCIN. that's undesirable. organic replaced into less complicated than the hard artwork inducing drug. heavily. as quickly as your accepted practitioner exams to work out how some distance you're dilated, then he could make the call. with a bit of luck your husband's enterprise will enable him have it sluggish without work to be with you and the toddler. solid success!

do what you think is right, I induced both of my children, one was 7 days before the docs estimate and the other was 4, I had great labours and the babies were just fine. You know how you feel and if your doc dosent object then don't wait.

Well I'm jealous! I'm suprised they offered to induce you already. Most doctors won't induce you until you are two weeks past your due date. If you would rather just get it over with than go ahead and be induced. I would rather be induced cuz than you know labor is coming!

Wait until your baby is ready. Even if you hit your due date. 38 to 42 weeks is NORMAL. If you hit your due date, agree to an u/s or a non-stress test or something to assure everyone that baby is doing OK but wait it out. How sure are you REALLY of when you conceived and how accurate the due date is?
