Go to http://www.adobe.com and go to the DOWNLOAD section. You are looking for the FREE Adobe Reader software.
It's a big download, so I hope that you do not have DIAL-UP.
Anyway, PDF files are a portable document format, so it will print the same way on any printer.

Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format proprietary to Adobe Systems for representing two-dimensional documents in a device independent and resolution independent fixed-layout document format. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a 2D document (and, with the advent of Acrobat 3D, embedded 3D documents) that includes the text, fonts, images, and 2D vector graphics that compose the document. PDF files do not encode information that is specific to the application software, hardware, or operating system used to create or view the document. This feature ensures that a valid PDF will render exactly the same regardless of its origin or destination (but depending on font availability). Anyone may create applications that read and write PDF files without having to pay royalties to Adobe Systems; Adobe holds a number of patents relating to the PDF format and claims that it is an open standard, licensing them on a royalty-free basis for use in developing software that complies with its PDF specification.

PDF are adobe acrobat files. These are files usually scanned documents which maintain the original integrity of the said document. Its a soft copy of the real thing.
Download adobe acrobat reader if you want to open it. ANy other software would just show you gibberish when you use it on your pdf file.

You need to download Adobe Acrobat, which is a free program that allows you to read PDF files. Otherwise, you won't be able to read it. Many forms that you get off the internet come in PDF format.

You can use the Adobe PDF viewer they all mentioned, or you can use the Foxit PDF reader.
Foxit Reader is a free reader for PDF (Portable Document Format) documents. You can view and print PDF documents with it.

This a very good alternative because the program loads fast, less than 1Mb, and extremely easy to use.

You need Adobe Acrobat to read it. You can download the reader for free at the Adobe site, or you can ask you computer to find the proper program to open the document with, and it should, if you are online, go to the site right away and offer to download the reader.
Here's a link to the download site, and it's free!! Good luck!
