Irreplaceable pics can be scanned onto a cd and that put into a bank lock box and other items such as deeds, wills, car titles, etc. I would also purchase and use a fireproof safe for home and put any other keepsakes and or papers or pictures that need safe keeping in there. That way you are not scrambling to find precious objects when the house is on fire and every second counts to get yourself and family with pets outside away from the fire.
While you are at it, take pictures of your furnishings and your whole house and put on a cd for the same reason, and keep it in a lock box away from the house. Keep it updated yearly or whenever you add something to your home or posessions.
Another good idea is to have a "survival kit" with necessary items for everyone in the household in case of a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, or flood or fire. Just an overnight bag with a change of clothes, and a small first aid kit, and keep it in the trunk of your car. I would also have any other items in the container(something as simple as a heavy-duty cardboard box) you would need on a quick departure from home. If you are in a hurricane area I would definately keep a day's supply of water for everyone, and maybe some dried food that will last until you can get to somewhere that has food. A space type blanket and possibly a tarp will be handy too. During those times of the year keep at least a 1/2 tank of gas or fill up if you can ahead of time.
I know this is more that you wanted in the way of an album for a few pictures, but if you are already thinking about a fire, think a little further and not have to play the "if only" and "I wish" game when it is too late.
