I have a kenyi cichlid and an electric yellow lab cichlid. The kenyi is so mean to the yellow lab. I don't have any other tanks the kenyi could move into to. I asked all my friends with tanks if they wanted the kenyi, but they all said it wouldn't be a good fit. I don't know what to do with the kenyi, the pet store won't take him and I have no1 to give him to. Is the only option left is to...well you know what Im goin to say, get rid of him for good. I don't want to do this, but I might have to. I like my yellow lab the most, and his tail fin isn't doing so good with the kenyi after him. How do I solve the problem?

Kenyis are one of the most aggressive african cichlids around, while electric yellow labs are only mildly aggressive (by african cichlids standards). Kenyi's are challenging to keep in tanks less than 75-gal . In small tanks they're capable of carrying out killing sprees.

Due to their aggression african cichlids just don't do well in small numbers. Two is a bad quantity; you need at least 6, and with a kenyi, a dozen african ciclids would be even better.

Also, male kenyi's turn yellow when they mature and can't stand the sight of another male. A yellow lab might be mistaken for a kenyi and may attract unwanted violent attention from the kenyi.

Get more african cichlids (add them in groups of 4 or more, don't add one or two, because new fish are treated with hostility, and a group of new fish do better than a single new fish).

If getting more fish or selling the kenyi isn't possible, then get a new tank just for him (a solitary 29-gal tank would suffice).

well your in a pretty tight squeeze, i sugest that you find SOMETHING to put the kenyi in, if you can find the right place you can find a medicen for the yellow lab. the same thing hapened to my cousin, she ended up keeping one in her bathtub....

but you don't have to do that! even if its a BIG bowl or a tight squeeze for the little bugger it'll be worh keeping both alive. trust meh'....btw what are there names?

good luck^_^
