I like it, but isn't it usually spelled Melissa? I think it was a very popular name 20-30 years ago. You don't hear of many babies named that now.

Mellisa is a very pretty name. There is one problem though the deminutive for it is Mel. The young lady may not appreciate it.

The spelling Melissa is more prevalent in the US. Some people with this name are called Missy.
