In the Philippines, an average cell phone costs around 4,500 pesos (Phil. Peso = 52 US dollars), with 2 options, post paid and prepaid. Ordinary cell fon users here prefer the prepaid one because you can buy a load for as low as P15 pesos. By the way, you are not alone in your situation. My mother, brother-in-law, niece, nephew and cousin, do not have a cell phone, too.

Currently I have a cell phone, but it does not work.

If you have credit experience, you can get a free phone with a calling plan ($20/month and up). If you have no credit experience, just to get a calling plan you need to pay 500 dollar security deposit.

Another option is to get a PREPAID calling plan. That will cost $40 to get it, and you pay as you talk.

A cell phone by itself costs 40 dollars and up (a good one, 300 dollars and up)

I do not have one, I don't really need a cell phone because I am always near a phone. At work or at home and I never go anywhere else much.
And I never even use the phone in our house because I can talk to my friends every sunday.

I have a cell phone for work, but not a personal phone. Likewise, my son does not have a cell phone and will not except for a prepaid with minimal minutes that will be used for us to reach him, him to reach us, or an emergency. He does not need a cell phone for any other reason.

Your not alone. I wont let my daughters have one either. I think the plans start at around $40 and go from there.

I don't... Plus, if you get some prepaid card servicesm, you don't have any plan! T-Mobile once promised on an old commercial that you only have to pay for minutes, no surprises, on T-Mobile to go
