I once met a supposedly very intelligent US Army lawyer (Colonel) who thought that the way we talk means that we look down on Americans. Its not really true. Most people in Britain think very highly of the US, but get a bit annoyed at generalisations such as the one I just mentioned. We just get a bit pissed off sometimes when we think about how we used to run 2/3 of the world and now we don't. Also the kind of US tv programmes that we get in the UK tend to be complete rubbish that make you look stupid - for example Friends, The Geena Davis Show, Sex in the City etc. And then there are the statistics about how most of you can't even find your own state on a map, or have a passport, or can read etc etc. So that probably doesn't help your cause much I'm afraid! But rest assured, most people in the UK think very highly of you all.

Stupid question really, any nation that needs a hammer to crack a walnut, goes into a blind funk when their precious gas prices go up half a cent, and tries to dictate to the world whats best for them, all in the name of religion, shows a massive inferiority complex.
It all boils down to a small saying I heard a year or two back when our local football team took on an american navy carrier team - they turned up fully kitted up in all their armour and we thrashed them.

What are we jealous of? I'd cut my own head off before I went to live in the fecking USA! You don't have anything we don't have. Except a useless president.
Actually I think the question should be - "Why do all Americans think they are better than everyone else"??
And yes we have freedom of speech, free schools, free healthcare so whats with the "jealous" thing. Jealous of what???

If you mean Brits, maybe you get that impression from the huge chip you're carrying on your shoulder, or maybe just the embarrasment of your foreign policy. I don't know. Tough question, as it's so general.

Because we have fought 2 world wars and won. You only joined right at the end when your government prob knew it was nearly over. Our pubs let 18 year olds drink alcohol, and your pubs only let 21 year olds and over in. Our laws are much more relaxed then yours, and no other country has the ability to house lots and lots of illegal immigrants. That is why us British are better than you Americans. Other than that you lot are better. Lets face it, you invented McDonalds. And we all love them.

Hey,please don't say ALL Brits! Not all of us are the same.I don't think for one minute you are inferior to me,or vica-verca. We are two countries with a common aim,Freedom. Surely that makes us equal.Our Armies fight along side each other,that makes us equal. You have President Bush,we have Prime Minister Blair!! THAT makes us equal!! I consider Americans my friend,not my enemy,hopefully that's equal??????
