Earth was originally a term that referred to the soil so, it is earth. Saying the earth's soil is like saying the soil's soil.
So, we are allowed to call the soil on Mars earth and it will probably make us feel more secure being that far from home.

The english language has had loads of impact from particularly some different languages, yet at its root it comes from a similar historic language as German, Dutch, and comparable languages. in the classic proto-germanic language, the word for soil or floor became into "ertho." over the years, as human beings moved and the language developed, it became erda in German and oerda in previous english. Oerda became oertha, then oerth in center english, evolving to the spelling "earth" that we use on the instant. It became into in the early renaissance, around 1400, that scientists first prolonged the which skill of oerth (floor or soil) to intend the whole planet.

The meaning of Earth no more refers to soil than the meaning of World refers to the planet, except as slang words. Earth refers to the planet, world refers to the people. We have many such slang words in our language. Far more than in other languages.

Technically it should be called Martian dirt. "Soil" implies organic componants, which have not yet been detected on Mars,

Ya got me there, pal!
It's way too dry to be called "Marsh".
I'm guessing the people who live there would call it something that would translate as "dirt" or "soil".
