Hey...
Make sure you have a network of friends that you can plan and do things with. Set up something that becomes a routine, like a "cheese, cracker and wine" night with the ladies. Maybe a game night with the kids. A neighborhood get together or some art project that many can get involved with to count the days until he returns.
Definitely, don't just sit there and think about him being gone. Keeping busy will make the time go faster! It really will!
December is just around the corner! Ho..Ho..Ho!
Good Luck!

I haven't seen my hubby in almost 6 months now. He comes home on Saturday though. : )
Here's some tips:
Find hobbies, hobbies, and more hobbies.
If you like photography, start making trips out to nature and take pictures. If you enjoy scrap-booking, then start get more involved with it. If you have the money to do so, take a community collage class for art, music, language...stuff like that. Check out your local civic center (which will be cheaper than a community collage) and see what all type of classes they have to offer. If you're into martial arts or dancing, then start taking lessons. If you don't work, then try to start, even if it's part time. Also, visit with your family very often. They will be a very good support system for you while your hubby's away.
Hope this helps and best wishes.

unfortunately, I know what you're going through. Do you have children, because they surely keep you busy! Hang out with your friends more often..not sure what to do with them...go bowling, rent movies, go swimming, take up recreational activities that are offered @ mwr's such as yoga, pilates, my recent fav. yoga booty ballet. There are plenty of things to keep you busy to pass the time away. Just remember that time flies when you're having fun so try do so. The first few weeks are the most difficult, it gets easier afterwards. If you would like to chat sometime, feel free to send me a message and I will add you to my yahoo or other form of messenger.
Take Care.

Mine was away for 10 months last year. I just took care of my kids and spent a lot of time with family. I also wrote him about 5 letters a day. That helps too.
