With no warning, my clutch won't shift into gears. Was told to check the transmission fluid, located by the brake fluid.

Dude, you don't have a clue.
A) The slave cylinder is at the cluch it's self, or, at the brakes themselves.

B) NEVER put ATF in a manual transmission. ATF= Automatic Transmission Fluid.

C) Both the brakes, AND clutch have master cylinders.

If you don't know something for sure. Don't offer information that may screw someone up!!

Now to answer the question.

If your fluid is OK, and the pedal feels normal, I'd say you have a transmission problem.

If your pedal is low, and easy to push, you probably have a leak in the system.

Either way, your car will need to be looked at by a shop, or someone with mechanical experience.

I wish you luck.

no ...that is the slave cylinder resevoir, but yes it does need to be checked and also have sopmeone check the oil in the tranny itself..be carefull not to use the wrong oils in the wrong years though , some take 80-90 when others may need ATF, the newer trannys (most of them) need ATF due to it being thinner to allow it to lubricate and not knock synchro's out

ITS NOT TRANS FLUID ITS HYDROLIC FLUID AND IT IS A LITTLE RESIVOIR NEAR YOUR BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER AND THERE SHOULD BE A MIN AND MAX LINE ON IT TO LET YOU KNOW WHERE TO FILL TO IF YOUR LEVEL IS NOT LOW THEN YOU MAY HAVE A WORN OUT CLUTCH AND MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED
