Make it profitable to eliminate the homeless situation.

Since when is that the governments job. That is your job, should you see the need.

My dealings with the homeless (formerly known as bums) is they don't want your help or the governments help. Sure there are a few temporarily homeless, displaced workers or whatever. But the vast majority are living the life they want, why don't you just leave them be.

I see the same one's day after day pushing shopping carts or dragging around plastic bags, digging in trash cans or sitting on the side of the street tearing pages out of magazines. Most of them are completely nuts. Which leaves us with two choices, lock them in a rubber room, or if they aren't harming anyone leave them alone.

I suppose you would have the government hire a capture crew with nets and tranquilzer guns and round them up. Then what put them in some kind of government run institution. Sorry I think most of them are better off roaming the outdoors than strapped to a wheel chair drooling on themselves.

The more the government tries to end homelessness, the more people CHOOSE to be homeless. The best thing the government could do about homelessness would be to make being homeless worse.

They can ask Bill Gates or Warren Buffet to give each and every American "Citizen" one million dollars and considering that the population of the USA is roughly between 300 and 400 million and Bill Gates is worth "OVER 45 THOUSAND MILLION" Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
That's like me giving you $20
Why do wealthy pigs HORDE all that money?
Why is there Homelessness and Poverty?
Why does the government let this happen?
It's because they are all wealthy multi-millionaires and multi-billionaires who think it's OK that people suffer while they live the life of luxury. It's pathetic! It's sad! It is a crime! It's funny how the government intervenes to take a child away from a mother who is not taking good care of the baby but it allows huge corporations to rip people off for their retirement savings after they worked 30 years for the company (ie: Enron, American Airlines, others) Wake up folks it's Corporate America!!!

Please tell me where in the constitution it says anything about the federal governments responsibility to fight homelessness. If anything, that should be the responsibility of local government. That's part of the problem in our society right now, too many people look to the federal government to solve problems they were never intended to deal with. Per the constitution, the US governments only responsibilities are to fund a military and regulate interstate commerce. Anything above and beyond that are the responsibilities of state and local government. But, I guess that genie is already out of the bottle.

Eliminate welfare! Start a comprehensive plan where the poor are offered some kind of job whether it be through the government or the private sector. Have them receive training and teach them how to manage money and live self sufficiently. Just giving people money is not going to solve any problem if they do not know how to use it. To get solid results we have to invest a lot of time and effort into this. The democratic strategy of simply just throwing money out is failing!

Well if you totally want to end it then you must become a Communistic Society. See, in Communism there is no homelessness. Although, people have to no incentives to work any harder than they should. Some people in America just have no will - face it. BUT, I do believe that we should be helping those that are mentally and physically disabled to get off the street, and if you are fully capable, then get off of your @$$!

Bring back the poor houses and sweat shops. Well, that seems to be the road that we are on. Conservatives don't want to spend their hard earned tax money on anything that could actually help anyone. Just feed business and capitalism. If you are homeless, it must be your own fault. That's the mentality of it.
There is plenty that we can do and are doing but with our economy being sucked dry by the wealthy not much else will happen.

Shut off the welfare system. The people that are taking advantage of government assistence, yes even homeless people get government assistance, will be left with nothing which will force them to get a job.

For a large percentage of the "homeless" it is a lifestyle. They do not wish to assume any level of responsibility. I remember the good ole days when they were called bums. Now they are homeless. Home is where you make it. They are houseless.
